You may find yourself asking: what is a boxcutter? What does that even mean? Well, the goal of the boxcutter is to attempt to break down the barriers of identity that serves to strip agency from individuals. We all go through life with multiple identities as well as carrying assumptions we carry with us. We all make assumptions about who we think other people are--that's a fact of life (Shout out to Tootie!). :P
While assumptions are a reality, we need to be conscious of the affects and effects our assumptions carry. Therein lies the duty of the boxcutter. The boxcutter must begin to deconstruct, dissect, and analyze people to restore their humanity.
It is also quite literal for me, since I managed my aunt and uncle's UPS Store for a few years before college packing up and cutting down boxes. So both literally and figuratively, I am a boxcutter. :)
